Solar panels absorb the sun's energy throughout the day and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. Most homes and personal electronics run on alternating current (AC) electricity. Our livestock watering systems run on DC electricity. The solar panels charge a battery or battery bank which stores the suns energy for use when needed.
The main factors that help us determine what system is right for you are:
1. Water Source ( Are you wanting to move water from a pond, a well or a river, etc?)
2. How far do you want to move the water? (total distance from source to destination)
3. How much lift is needed? ( a vertical measurement in feet from the water level at the source, to the water level at the destination, or to the highest point that the water will be lifted to )
4. How many animals (and what kind) are you watering?
5. Do you have any plans for expansion in the future?
Once you know the answers to these questions, give us a call and we can suggest options that will suit your needs.
Solar direct is the use of solar power without using a battery bank. Solar Direct is the most efficient way to use a solar pump. This method powers the pump directly from the solar panel, without using batteries. Solar direct is also good for dewatering (the removal of water). The pumps run when the sun is shining. While some people like the peace of mind of having a battery bank for when the sun isn't shining, there are alternative ways to gain peace of mind with Solar Direct. Having an oversized trough or multiple water tanks is a way to ensure your needs are met without a battery bank.
